Scotch & Soda celebrates the free spirit of Amsterdam. We champion individuality, authenticity and the power of self-expression to create the unique – an attitude reflected in our designs.

As a fashion brand, our goal is to make a positive contribution to climate protection. Therefore, we are committed to reducing our environmental impact and waste, recognising the growing importance of circularity for the protection of biodiversity for future generations – starting with a focus on materials.

De DSFW 5 FAQ’s

We challenge ourselves every day to minimize our negative impact and adapt best practices in a supply chain that comes with a lot of complexity. We embrace the beauty and functionality of fabrics, yet acknowledge the impact that those conventional resources have on our ecosystems. Therefore, we’ve set ourselves the goal that 70% of our styles will be made according to our responsible materials standard by 2024. This standard outlines our preferred fibres from an organic, recycled, or regenerated source which are a better choice in comparison to conventional or virgin fibres.

Read more on our Discover section about our mission and the better materials we use in our collections.

We consider a garment to be responsible if the main material contains a minimum of 50% responsible fibre content. These items can be found throughout the collection. During DSFW (and after) our store staff will always be happy to direct you to the styles made with responsible fibres and explain their benefits, so please do not hesitate to ask.

Creating socially responsible fashion starts with more transparent manufacturing operations. We put a lot of effort into selecting the factories and partners we work with, only operating with factories and suppliers with stringent environmental policies and good working conditions. We take pride in our long-term relationships with them, some of which have lasted for over 20 years.

On the Discover section of our website we publish a full list of our tier one and tier two suppliers – factories and manufacturers responsible for production, finishing and assembly of garments – and a map indicating where we produce our garments. All of our suppliers have signed the Amfori BSCI Code of Conduct, which comprises core labour rights such as fair remuneration, respect of the health and safety of workers, the exclusion of child labour, decent working hours and ethical business behaviour. They are regularly audited by independent and certified (SAAS) audit companies, to verify compliance with the Amfori BSCI code of conduct.

Every season, we integrate more organic, recycled and regenerated fibres into our collections. These fibres have a lower impact on the environment in comparison to the conventional alternative, making them a better choice. We’d also encourage you to get the most out of your purchase through wearing it often, washing it less – saving water which is a precious resource that we value – and repairing when needed, all of which keeps clothing in the cycle longer.

Take good care of your garments, follow the advice on the care label and store them properly to keep them looking their best.

Think about how much you wash your clothes. Not everything needs to be washed so often. There are also clever ways to refresh your clothes between washing which saves on water like airing outside or spot cleaning. Look out for the Clevercare logo and visit their site for recommendations on easy ways to extend the lifespan of your clothing.

Pick up tips on how to style your garment in a different way to create a new look and get more wear out of one item over time.

Don’t forget to repair garments — ask in our stores for advice on repairs — or if you’ve really fallen out of love with it, then gift it, swap-it or donate it and make someone else happy.

We’re happy to tell you more about how to get the most out of your garments. Visit one of our five stores participating to DSFW and ask our store stylists for useful tips.
